Patricia Ann (Simpson) Danner, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025 in the arms of her family, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on New Year’s Day, January 1, 1953, in San Francisco to parents, John and Maxine Simpson, and older brother, Michael. She spent the first 30 years of her life in San Francisco and the next 30 years in Clifton, New Jersey, though both served mainly as a home base as nothing brought her more joy than traveling, both with her family, dear friends and solo. She was also an avid reader, gardener and cat lover.
Patricia spent most of her career in financial systems and bankruptcy administration. While raising her young daughter as a single mother, she also started her own income tax preparation business as a second job. Aside from work, she was a frequent and dedicated volunteer, working to help victims of domestic violence and those facing food insecurity in her community. In 2014, she was given the Volunteer of the Year award from the Greater Boston Food Bank.
After her retirement in 2012, she moved to Massachusetts to be closer to her family, particularly her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She will be remembered by those who love her for her profound kindness, unmatched generosity and resiliency against any adversity. She was a true warrior who refused to let Alzheimer’s disease rob her of her sense of humor or love for her family, laughing at a good joke and blowing a kiss to her family up until the end.
She leaves behind her daughter, Andrea Weltman, son-in-law, Jeremy Weltman, four grandchildren, Jack, Emma, Henry and Lilah, her niece, nephew and cherished friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 22, 2025 at Paddy’s Public House at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Greater Boston Food Bank.
