Peter Farnell Brooks

Peter Farnell Brooks, of Needham and Yarmouth, died peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024. He was 82 years old. Born in Newton MA, his family settled in Needham in 1947.

Peter graduated from Needham High School in 1959. He went on to receive his Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University. Peter spent his career working as a mechanical engineer with GE, Draper Labs, Proctor & Gamble and Bristol Meyers. Peter was an avid sports fan and loved all of the Boston teams. In addition to playing soccer, his biggest passion was coaching soccer, which he did for his childrens' teams for many years in Needham. He was also an avid golfer and softball player, playing both into his 80s. In 2022 he was inducted into the Cape Cod Senior Softball Hall of Fame. Peter enjoyed spending time with his family & friends and being on Cape Cod. 

He was the son of the late Raymond Brooks and Barbara Cobb and brother of the late Penelope Brooks Overcast. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Lesli. He is survived by his wife Sandra, daughter Keri and her husband Doug, son Michael, grandchildren Madeline, Logan and Sophia, and his great grandchild Winter, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held in the EATON AND MACKAY FUNERAL HOME 465 CENTRE ST, NEWTON CORNER on Friday, February 9th from 4-7. A graveside service will be held at Brewster Cemetery, Lower Road, Brewster MA on Saturday February 10th at 11:30 am.
