Peter A. Katsines, of Newton, a retired inspector for the US Coast Guard, died on Sat Oct 15, 2011 at Avery Manor in Needham. He was 90.
Born and raised in Boston, Peter graduated from English High School. He served with the US Army's 478th Amphibious Trucking Co. during the D-Day invasion of Normandy on Omaha Beach. He worked as a supervising inspector for the US Coast Guard. He was a former member of Brae Burn Country Club in Newton and enjoyed ballroom dancing at the Post 440 in Newton.
Peter was the husband of the late Dorothy (Condos) Katsines, and is survived by his son Peter A. Jr. his wife Joan of Pepperell and their children Peter Joseph, Brian and the late Kimberly and his daughter Karen Connolly and her husband Arthur of Winthrop and their children Kelly, Katrina, Daniel and Thomas and great grandson Daniel Connolly Jr. He is also survived by his close companion Rosalind Weagle.
A funeral service will be held on Thurs at 10 AM in the Chapel of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral 162 Goddard Ave. Brookline followed by interment with Military Honors in Newton Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours will be in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER on Wed 5-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Peter's name may be made to Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders, 311 Arsenal St Watertown MA 02472.
