Philip McChesney Obituary

Philip E. McChesney of Dover died on Tuesday, July 24th at Norwood Hospital. He was 82 years old. Philip, son of the late Philip S. and Marie (Brickner) McChesney of Moorestown, NJ, was born in Mount Holly, NJ and was raised in Moorestown, NJ. He graduated Moorestown high school in 1947 then entered the Air Force as a Pilot achieving rank of Captain with an honorable discharge in 1952 after serving in the Korean conflict. From there he entered the New Jersey Air National Guard and was discharged in 1952. He continued his education at Purdue University and earned a degree in Engineering in 1958. His career as a communications engineer included time at Philco-Ford, Sylvania, and Raytheon before retiring in 1992. Phil was an active volunteer in the town of Dover and served on various committees with the Council on Aging and the Church of the Most Precious Blood.
Philip married the late Margaret (Schmit) McChesney on September 12, 1959 and was married for 44 years. They lived in PA and NJ before settling in Dover, MA where they raised their four children.
He was the loving father of P. Michael McChesney of Lebanon, ME, Patricia A. McChesney of Amherst, John E. McChesney of Walpole and Mary Ann McChesney of Boston. Brother of Marie (McChesney) Zelinski of Marmora, NJ, and the late Leo McChesney of Moorestown, NJ and late Robert McChesney of New York, NY. He also leaves one granddaughter, Samantha Lee McChesney and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in The Church of the Most Precious Blood, 32 Centre St. Dover on Saturday, July 28th at 10:00 AM Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Friday from 4-7PM. Interment will be private.
