Randolph Tow Obituary

Randolph B. Tow
December 27, 1943 – February 5, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Randolph B. Tow, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, at the age of 81.

Randolph, known affectionately as Randy, was born in Boston’s Chinatown on December 27, 1945, to Li Cho Tow and Doris Tow. Randy’s formative years were marked by his love of sports and community, playing basketball for Boston Tech and competing in volleyball and basketball for the Chinatown youth group, the Boston Knights.

An intelligent and hardworking man, Randy was the first in his family to earn a college degree, working tirelessly to put himself through Boston University where he earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Upon graduating, he worked for the Navy and later as a civil engineer for the federal government. After a fulfilling career, which included Masters coursework at UMass Amherst, Randy chose to retire early, but never slowed down. He and his beloved wife, Susan, continued to build their local real estate business together, a labor of love that brought them much prosperity.

Randy was a devoted family man, whose love and support for his family knew no bounds. His pride in his children and grandchildren was immeasurable, and he never missed an opportunity to be there for them, whether it was attending their sporting events, graduations, or birthday parties. He was a fixture at every event, always offering encouragement and unconditional love.

Randy also had a deep love for animals, and his home was filled with his beloved pets. From Gippy the Guinea Pig to Mei Ling the Bichon, Misty and Confucius the Siamese cats, and his granddogs Chirp, DJ, Taro, and Tofu the grandbunny—Randy’s heart was as big as his smile.

Randy leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, humor, and family devotion. His presence will be sorely missed, but his love and laughter will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Tow, his younger brother, Ronald Tow (and his wife Gail Tow), his children: Michael Tow (wife Nancy and daughters Alana (deceased), Mikayla, and Sienna), Darren Tow (wife KyoungMin and sons Tae, Corey, and Max), and Cynthia Tow McPherson (husband Ryan McPherson and children Jillian and Alex), along with his cherished pets.

Randy was a truly wonderful human being who will be greatly missed but never forgotten.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Randy’s name to an animal charity of your choice (like the MSPCA) or a children’s charity.
