Richard C. “Dick” Canning, lifelong resident of Needham passed peacefully at 81 years of age on April 19, 2011 with his family by his side. Beloved husband of 55 years to Betty (Farr) Canning. Dick was a loving father, father in law and grandfather,survived by his three children, Mark and his wife Statia (Ryan) and their three children Stephen, Michael and Ryan of Shrewsbury, Scott and his wife Susan (Lloyd) of Wrentham and Bill and his wife Gina (Varitimidis) and their two children Alexa and Nicholas of Norfolk. Brother to two surviving siblings, Tom and his wife Evelyn of California and Harry and his wife Jean of S. Yarmouth. Visiting hours will be held at the Upper Parish Hall of Christ Episcopal Church 1132 Highland Ave Needham on Saturday April 23 from 11to 12 followed by a Memorial Service in the Christ Church Chapel at Noon. Following the service burial will take place in the Church Memorial Garden. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in Richard’s name may be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 417005, Boston MA 02241-7005. US Army veteran, retired Custodian for Needham High School, Civil War history buff, enjoyed fishing and bowling.
