Richard McNeil

Richard “Rick” McNeil, of Weston, MA returned to the arms of his Creator, on Friday, April 14, 2023, at BID Needham, after a period of illness. Born on May 23, 1947 in Boston to Clifford and Virginia (Walsh) McNeil, Rick was the eldest of 5 boys raised in Needham, He was a graduate of Needham High School class of 1965 and then went on to graduate from UMass in 1969. In 1988 he met his beloved wife, Daria Erhartic, in Quincy, and the couple celebrated 28 years of marriage last November. In 1992, they moved to Weston MA, where they raised their two sons, Luke Alois McNeil and Zackery Richard McNeil. A friend to everyone, Rick built a successful career in municipal planning and economic development, real estate, commercial construction and established his own environmental services company. In “retirement”, Rick loved boating on Nantucket Sound and working as a commercial fisherman. He also continued to follow the stock market and economic trends and loved to read, but especially enjoyed his time with family both at home in Weston, and at their vacation home on Cape Cod. In addition to his immediate family, Rick leaves his brothers, Robert (Maureen) of Medfield, MA; Steven of Boston, MA; Christopher (Sheila) of Middleton, MA and many nieces, nephews and broken-hearted friends, and was predeceased by brother Thomas of Bradenton, FLA, in 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph Church, 1360 Highland Ave, Needham, on Friday April 21st at 11am. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
