Robert Nedder, Sr. Obituary

Robert Samuel Nedder, Sr. retired Dedham Police Officer, of Medfield, passed away peacefully at his home on September 1st, 2021.  Bob was the son of Joseph and Rose Nedder and grew up in Milton, MA. He was a graduate of Providence College and received a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from AIC. He was also a veteran of the Air Force and was stationed in Germany during his time of service, as an International Interceptor for Security.

Bob, also known as “Kojak,’’ was a beloved Dedham Police officer for 31 years. During that time, he served as the Juvenile Officer/Prosecutor for Dedham and was known fondly for his thousands of hours directing traffic behind the Dedham Mall on Incinerator Road. Bob received many accolades for his work, including the Lions Award, the Grangers Award, Citizen of Excellence Award, Police Officer of the Year Award, and the Award for Dedication to Dedham Students given by the Dedham School Committee.

Bob was devoted to his family, his beloved bride of 55 years Janet, his three sons, and most especially, his adored eight grandchildren. His Sunday morning calls to each and every grandchild was something they all looked forward to and now treasure.

Bob is survived by his wife Janet Nedder of Medfield, his son Joe Nedder and wife Antonia Nedder of Needham, son Robert Nedder, Jr. of Dedham, son Arthur Nedder and wife Marcy Nedder of Glastonbury, CT, and his grandchildren Katharine Nedder, Victoria Nedder, Joseph Nedder, Samantha Nedder, Cassandra Nedder, Sabrina Nedder, Katie Nedder, and Mikayla Nedder. He is also survived by his sister Edwina Dirk of Cathedral City, CA and many beloved cousins.
