Mr. Robert B. Rockefeller died September 17th 2010, 5 months after his loving wife of 62 years, Helen Skalecki Rockefeller. Both were 87 years old. Born in Brooklyn, NY he received a BA degree in business from the City College of New York. He was a veteran of WWII serving from January 1943 to April 1946, located overseas in England, France and Germany from October 1944. He was a radio intercept operator in the 3261 Signal Service Co. He worked for Caltex Petroleum Corp. for forty years, retiring as a Senior Tax Accountant in Los Colinas Texas in 1987, moving to Gainesville Florida the same year. He was a member and usher of Holy Faith Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Knight, Secretary, Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He was also a member of AARP's Tax-aide for the elderly, serving as counselor, instructor and District Coordinator in Gainesville for more than 12 years. Mr. Rockefeller is survived by his daughters Arlene and Doris Mitchell, son Robert and four grandchildren, Brad, Lindsay, Sean and Brian.
He enjoyed his life and was proud to be an American. Funeral from the Eaton and Mackay Funeral Home, 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Thursday September 23rd at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Corpus Christi Church , Auburndale at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-7 Pm. Interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Homes for Our Troops, 6 Main St. Taunton, and MA 02780.
