Robert Salo Obituary

Robert L. Salo of Needham, died suddenly at home on April 21, 2021. He was the loving husband of Frada (Erlich) Salo for 30 years.

He was the devoted son of Lennard C. and Aino (Keskinen) Salo, beloved brother of David Salo of Sandwich and his partner Karen Wise and his sister Nancy Monahan and her husband T. Stacey of Marshfield.

Beloved uncle of the late Thomas S. Monahan III of Baltimore, MD, Robert D Monahan and his wife Eva of Scituate, Elizabeth R Caruso and her husband Paul of Weston. He was the adoring great uncle of Mathew and Martin of Scituate,

Christian and Lydia of Weston, and Michael and Emily of Baltimore.

Bob was a proud Eagle Scout, a graduate of UMass Amherst and a US Navy Vietnam War Veteran. He was a resident of Needham for 27 years. Bob began his career in the wine industry before transitioning to commercial truck sales at Watertown Ford where he worked for over 20 years. Bob was a car, motorcycle, and gun enthusiast. He always had a passion for food and cherished traveling with his wife, particularly cruising.  A longtime Friend of Bill W, Bob was a greatly respected leader within AA.

He was known and loved for his generous, kind, and accepting nature and will always be remembered for his selfless compassion and energy to care for others. We will miss his warmth and gracious grounded temperament.
