Russell W. Pratt

Russell W. Pratt, 73, of Lunenburg, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Russell was born on September 8, 1951 in Johnson City, New York to Robert and Shirley (Winslow) Pratt. Russell grew up in Needham, Massachusetts where he graduated from Needham High School in 1969. He then moved to Detroit, Michigan where he attended Wayne State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science.

Russ had a lifelong passion for computers and technology, embracing every aspect of the digital world. Even in retirement, he remained deeply engaged with the stock market, actively day trading up until his passing. Beyond his professional and intellectual pursuits, Russ found immense joy in spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren, cherishing every moment with them.

Those who knew Russ will remember him as the nicest man they had ever met—kind, honorable, an exceptional listener, and unwavering integrity. He had a rare gift for making others feel heard and valued. Russ was also fortunate to have found his soulmate, and though their time together was cut short, they made the most of every moment, traveling and creating cherished memories.

Russell is survived by his mother, Shirley Pratt of Needham, MA, two daughters Rachel Boyle and her husband Jason of Lunenburg, MA, Heather Pratt of Lunenburg, MA, and a stepdaughter Jessica Sargent and her husband Rick of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was a proud and loving grandpa to Kaylyn, Reese, Molly, Rowan, and Hadley. Russell was also survived by his two siblings Hilary Zayed and her husband Salah of Sanford, Maine, Curtis Pratt of Germantown, Tennessee, and loving nieces and nephews. Russell also is survived by his ex-wife and friend Deborah Sullivan of Lunenburg, MA and the love of his life Martha Rodriguez of Lunenburg, MA.

Russ’s kindness and warmth will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:30am at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church 23 Dedham Avenue Needham, Massachusetts with a reception to follow.
