Sara Jo Marble, 90, died Thursday October 23rd at North Hill in Needham, MA. She is survived by her husband James E. Marble, Jr. Sara Jo was born in Jersey City, NJ on September 8, 1935, the eldest daughter of the late Leo and Ramona (Hawkinson) Scott. She had a passion for family and community which made her an outstanding caregiver, volunteer and friend.
Sara Jo was the devoted wife of James E. Marble (Jim) whom she married in 1963. During their 62 years together, they were true partners. Together they raised their three children, spent 45 summers at their home in Casco, Maine, traveled and enjoyed their time with family and friends. Most importantly, they cared for and took care of each other through it all.
Sara Jo attended Mount Holyoke College where she received her BS in Physiology and subsequently, took a job working in the labs of the Tufts University Medical School. She left the workforce to raise her children and dedicated her time and talent to her family and the community. She served on the Dover and Dover Sherborn Regional school committees for over 10 years, chairing the committees for most of her tenure. She volunteered in countless different ways throughout the town and at The Dover Church, where she was a member of the choir for almost 40 years. She also enjoyed gardening, painting and singing.
Sara Jo is survived by her beloved husband Jim, three children, Jeffrey S. Marble and his wife Abby of Medfield, MA, William E. Marble and his wife Anelise Horah of Northborough, MA and Elizabeth K. Marble of Medfield, MA, and 4 grandchildren Samuel S. Marble of Ballston Spa, NY, Emily E. Marble of Brighton, MA, Harrison C.H. Marble of Northborough, MA and Lucas E.H. Marble of Northborough, MA. She is survived by her sister Katherine E. Scott of Avon, CT. Her brother Jarrett W. Scott of Keene, NH predeceased her in September 2024.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Pines Edge and Vista Terrace at North Hill in Needham for the special care they provided not only to Sara Jo, but also to Jim, and for the compassion shown to the entire family.

A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 12 at The Dover Church, 17 Springdale Ave, Dover, MA.
