Scott Jennings Obituary

Scott Charlton Jennings, of Needham, passed away suddenly at the age of 67 after a brief illness due to the COVID-19 virus on April 8, 2020.  Born in Boston, MA he was the beloved son of Ethel (Charlton) and Robert Jennings.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years Maryellen (Saulen) Jennings, his daughters Danielle, Kristen and Erin of Boston, his mother Ethel of Portsmouth, NH and his sister Sandra Prescott and her husband Larry, his late brother Wayne Jennings and his wife Meredith, brothers-in-law Brian Saulen and Mark Leclaire, and sister-in-law Sandra Antico.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, many good friends, his brothers and friends of the Massachusetts State Police, and his beloved dog Lexi.

Scott graduated from Needham High School in 1971.  He then received his bachelor’s degree from UMass Boston and his master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College.  He graduated from the Massachusetts State Police Academy in 1983.  Scott held many different positions throughout his career working the road, the Attorney General’s Office in Boston and most recently the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.  He retired as a Sergeant from the Massachusetts State Police in 2009 and went on to work at Emmanuel College for 10 years when he retired in 2019.  Scott received many commendations from the Massachusetts State Police, working and solving many high-profile cases.  He was a great family man, an avid skier, loved to travel including his yearly visits to Martha’s Vineyard and summers in Chatham, and loved his Thursday nights.

 A private family service will be held.  A Memorial Mass and Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Scott’s name to Newton-Wellesley Hospital, COVID-19 Fund or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
