Sheila Mulcahy Obituary

Sheila M. Mulcahy, 59, of Apopka, FL and formerly of Jamaica Plain, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Cornerstone Hospice Care Center in Ocoee, FL on Tuesday March 25, 2025.

Sheila grew up in Jamaica Pain and attended Our Lady of Lourdes School in JP, Fontbonne Academy in Milton, worked and attended Boston College Newton MA, and received her BS in Social Service at the University of Central Florida.

Sheila spent her career caring for others at Kids Central Inc. and most recently as a licensed specialist for Florida Community Elder Care.

Sheila is survived by her husband Francis X Cain and her daughter Rory M Cain, as well as siblings Bridget and Michael Landry, John and Sharon Mulcahy, Helena and Stephen Moylan, Maurice and Michelle Mulcahy, Mary and Laurence (Skip) Eaton, and Joseph Mulcahy. Sheila is also survived by her closest friend, Kelley Lane and by many nieces and nephews that truly adored her. She was predeceased by her loving parents Michael A. Mulcahy and Patricia (Hennessy) Mulcahy, and her sister Elizabeth Mulcahy.

Sheila’s proudest accomplishment and greatest joy was raising her daughter, Rory. Sheila and Rory both shared a deep passion for Irish step dance, and they traveled all over the United States and Canada together for Rory’s Feiseanna and Oireachtais competitions. Rory continues the tradition of competitive dancing today.

Although Sheila resided in Florida, part of her heart and most of her appetite lived in Cape Cod, MA. If you asked her to describe her perfect summer day, she would either tell you to “mind your own damn business” or she would share about laughing by the pool with her siblings and a refreshing drink, enjoying steamers, lobster and clam chowder, and applauding the sunset at Mayflower Beach. You can always take the girl out of Massachusetts, but you can never take Massachusetts out of the girl.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10am on Saturday May 10, 2024 at St. Pius X Church, 5 Barbara Street, South Yarmouth MA 02664.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Cornerstone Hospice Care Center @ Health Central 1300 Hempel Avenue Ocoee FL 34761
