Stuart Macomber Obituary

Stuart W. Macomber of Newton Centre passed away on March 25, 2022. He was 84.

Stuart was born in Hudson, MA and had been a resident of Newton for over 50 years. He was a graduate of WPI and had had a variety of careers from being an engineer, a stock broker, a bookshop owner and a lobsterman.

Stuart is survived by his wife Marie (Crowley) Macomber, his 4 sons Scott, Lee (and his wife Karol), Todd (and his wife Michelle), and Chris (and his wife Debra), and his 9 grandchildren Nathan, Kristian, Noe, David, Carlin, Ayla, Ryan, Maya and Nicholas. He is also survived by his brother Richard and his sister Nancy Nickerson.
Stu was a man of many talents and interests, and was a lifelong engineer regardless of his current occupation. It was rare for Stu to find a machine that he couldn't fix, and he was happy to take it apart to see how it worked regardless.  Through genes and by example, Stu, like his father Ken before him, did his best to pass these talents to his children and grandchildren.   Stu was also reluctant to throw things away, knowing that they could come in useful some day.  And sure enough, they did sometimes.  Stu's sons will have to divide these things among themselves, since his wife Marie will have none of that anymore.

Stu always loved the sea.  He built his own boat as a teenager for mossing and for fishing a few lobster pots.  When later he became a stock broker, on his breaks he would walk down to the harbor in Boston and watch the lobster boats coming and going, which reignited his desire to work on the sea.  He was eventually able to follow that dream when he bought his own commercial 'Novi' lobster boat, the 'Seacomber'.

Stuart was known by all to be a thoughtful, warm, and generous man. He will be greatly missed.
