Susan (Sue) G. Findlay passed away on May 31, 2025, at the age of 63, after a courageous and inspiring fourteen-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Sue was born on September 12, 1961, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Robert and Love (Chorney) Findlay and raised in nearby Monroe. After high school, she attended the University of Delaware, where she met her future husband, Jay Walters. The two married in 1984 and spent the next 30 years sharing a life full of love, adventure, and laughter. From living abroad in Hong Kong to raising their two daughters, Sue and Jay built a life rich in experience and deep connection. Their first daughter, Emma, was born while they were overseas; they later settled in Needham, Massachusetts, where their second daughter, Sophie, completed their beloved Findlay-Walters family in 2001.
Sue had an adventurous spirit and a boundless zest for life. She found joy in travel, cycling, cooking, and meditation and brought mindfulness, grace, and warmth to everything she did. Sue faced every challenge—including her cancer diagnosis—with strength, optimism, and an open heart. Her courage was matched only by her compassion.
Sue is survived by her daughters, Emma (Brendan) of Concord, MA, and Sophie (Sam) of Arlington, MA, and her cherished grandson, Tommy—whose recent arrival gave Sue extra reason to fight with everything she had. She is also survived by her brothers Bob (Lori) of Brewster, MA; Mark (Sue) of Anchorage, AK; and Ward of McMinnville, OR, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends who felt like family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jay Walters; her sister, Nancy Geragotelis; and her parents, Robert and Love Findlay.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Congregational Church of Needham, 1154, Great Plain Avenue, Needham, on Saturday, September 13th at 10am.
Interment is Private
