Thomas I. Griggs, Jr., 89, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022. Born in Newton and raised in Waltham, Tom was a graduate of Weston High School Class of 1951. He was a US Air Force, Korean War veteran. After the war, Tom went to work on the family farm in Waltham prior to go to work for the City of Waltham as a signal maintainer. He retired from the City of Waltham after 35 years of dedicated service. Tom was a member of the American Legion Post 156 in Waltham, The Air Force Association, was a founding member of the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Wing and was a member of the International Municipal Signal Association. An avid gardener, Tom enjoyed sharing his flowers and vegetables with friends and neighbors. He enjoyed Blue Grass music, attending Blue Grass Festivals and airshows up and down the east coast.
He was the beloved husband of the late Annette (Meinhart) Griggs. Stepfather of Kathy Burns and the late Kevin Burns and his surviving wife Hanneke. Brother of Barbara Tremblay and Norma Gallagher. Tom is also survived by his dear friends Ken and Claudia Collins.
Visitation will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave, Needham, on Monday, January 31st from 5-7pm, concluding with a prayer service at 6:45pm. Interment with Military Honors will be held at The Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Tuesday, February 1st at 11:15am.
