Thomas Madden Obituary

Retired Newton Fire Lt., Thomas M. Madden died on Dec 22, 2011 at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea. He was 83.
A lifelong Newton resident, Tom graduated from Newton High School in 1946 and the Bryant & Stratton School. He served as a MP in the US Army during WW II, and was appointed to the Newton Fire Dept. He retired after 43 years of service. Tom was a life member of Newton Lodge of Elks No. 1327, Past Commander of VFW Post 1538 Newton, a member of A.L. Post 440 Nonantum and a longtime member of the Newton YMCA.
Tom was the beloved husband of Eileen (Murphy) Madden, the loving father of William of Newton , Kathleen Madden-Moxon and her husband Shea, Esq.of St. Petersburg FL, and Deirdre of Newton, and grandfather of Raven Moxon. He was the brother of the late John, William and Eleanor Madden.
His funeral will be from the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. NEWTON CORNER on Tues Dec 27 at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady Help of Christians Church at 10:30 AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery Waltham. Visiting hours are Mon 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Tom's name to The New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 16 Court St. 9th Fl, Boston, MA 02108 (nechv.org/donate)
