Thomas "Tom" Joseph Weadock, Jr 1942-2025
Thomas Joseph Weadock, Jr, 83, of Needham, MA died after a short battle with cancer, on December 25th, 2025.
He was born in San Francisco, CA in 1942 to Margaret Weadock (Healy) and Thomas Joseph Weadock, Sr. Tom grew up in the San Francisco Bay area where he attended primary school before joining the seminary in his teenage years. Following the seminary, he went on to pursue his undergraduate degree at The University of San Francisco and then continued to receive his Master of Social Work at Loyola University in Chicago. While at Loyola, Tom met Mary Elizabeth, a fellow student in the MSW program. Tom and Mary Elizabeth married in 1969 in NYC during a snowstorm, setting the stage for their partnership that would carry them through the next 55 years. Tom began his career as a Federal Probation officer in Chicago and soon went on to build his career in San Francisco, Washington DC and finally Boston, where he retired as the Chief of Federal Probation for the US District Court of Massachusetts
Tom also proudly served as an Army Mental Health Specialist during the Vietnam War.
After retirement Tom enthusiastically delved into his Irish heritage and proudly became an Irish citizen.
Tom found joy in the wildlife of his backyard, where he created a welcoming space for all varieties of native birds, deer, bunnies, and turkeys. He brought his California influence inside the home with the many plants he grew and nurtured.
Tom often spoke fondly of his Jesuit education, which he credited for giving him the gift of compassion for those less fortunate.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Weadock, and is survived by his sister, Mary M. Weadock of DelRay Oaks, California, his three children Briana Weadock from Washington DC, Nicole M Weadock from Portland ME, and Thomas Weadock III and daughter-in-law Robyn Weadock from Canton MA and his 5 grandchildren, Grace, Charlie, Anna, Kelsi, and Luke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday January 9th at 3 PM at St Joseph Church 1360 Highland Avenue Needham, MA 02492
