Vincent P. "Vinny" Youdis, a lifelong Needham resident died on Monday, September 19th at the Skilled Nursing Facility at North Hill. He was 85 years old. Son of the late Peter and Julia (Matherwiez) Youdis, Vinny attended Needham High School and then enlisted in the US Marine Corps. Vinny served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. A true patriot, he loved his country and the Marine Corps. Vinny "moved mountains" as the owner-operator of Youdis Excavating in Needham for 40 years. He was an active member of the Lt. Manson H. Carter VFW Post 2498 in Needham. He was a past president of the Kiwanis Club and former member of the Needham Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. Beloved husband for 62 years of Lillian (Derenzo) Youdis. Loving father of Cheryl and her husband Douglas Heald of Upton ME and Carla and her husband Gary Baron of Nashville TN. Brother of Veronica Ewing of Sandwich and the late Anthony, Joseph, Peter, Frank and Mary Matherwiez. Grandfather of Gary and Cortney Baron, Michael and Kristin Baron, Daniel and Alicia Baron, Shannon and Randy Hastings and Courtney and Nathan Smith. Great grandfather of Zoe, Baylee, Taylor, Banks, Ava, Gabriella, Vincent and Greenly. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Friday September 23 at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph Church at 11:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment with Military Honors at St. Mary's Cemetery.
