Walter Bielski Obituary

Walter J. Bielski, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. At the age of 101. Born in Newton and raised in Needham, he was the son of the late Peter and Yadwiga Bielski. Walter was preceded in death by his wife Mary to whom he was married for 59 years and daughter, Donna Marie Bielski. He is survived by his son, Thomas of Dover. Walter has two grandchildren Susanne Francis and husband Josh and Michael Bielski and wife Abbey. He has four great grandchildren Pacie and Jake Francis, and Samuel and Weston Bielski. Walter was a longtime resident of Needham and was the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor for the Town of Needham. Walter is a veteran of World War II. He served honorably in the Navy, achieving rank of Mate First Class.

Walter loved being with his family whenever he could, and seeing his family grow up and keeping up with all their accomplishments in and out of school. He loved playing golf and always walked the 18-holes well into his eighties. Along with golf he enjoyed all sports, especially football and the Patriots.

After the passing of his wife and daughter in 2006, he moved to Hingham’s Linden Ponds. Then in 2021 he moved to their assisted living facility, Rose Court. There he received comforting and compassionate care. Also, Beacon Hospice Care and his nurse Debbie who provided warm-hearted care meant a great deal to him.
