Walter E. Kochanek Jr.

Walter E. Kochanek Jr., retired Needham teacher and longtime resident of Needham passed away suddenly on September 8, 2021.

Loving son to the late Walter and Victoria Kochanek, he grew up in Medford and attended Boston University where he played on the baseball team. He was an admired science teacher who is still remembered by his students. His love of sports, particularly the Red Sox, was rivaled only by his love of watching his grandkids play sports. Walter enjoyed fishing and tending to his vegetable garden, and frequently had the winning hand in his card group.

Beloved husband of the late Nancy Kochanek. Loving father to Suzanne Valcovic, Karen Barrett and her husband Bob, John Kochanek and his wife Kara. Grandfather to Melissa Libretta, Drew Valcovic, Nicholas Barrett and Tory Kochanek. Great grandfather to Ava Libretta and Brooks Barrett.
