Willard Edgar Dotter, Dotter

Dr. Willard Edgar Dotter, of Weston, MA, passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2012, at the age of 89. Beloved Husband of 62 years to Lois (Apgar), he was also the father of five daughters; Margaret and her husband Tom Miller of New Boston, NH, Pat Dotter of Vernon Center, MN, Pamela Dotter of Weston, MA, Penny Walker of Highwood, MT and Polly and her husband Bob Meader of Rochester, NH. He was Grandfather to eight; Geri and Jennifer Stille, Quincy and Ben Walker, Christine, Kimberly, Elizabeth, and Heather Meader; and Great-Grandpa to Chayden Ross, Isaac Isham, and Olivia and Brody Sturm. He was Uncle Willard to Lee Dotter and his wife Mary Louise and Lori (Dotter) and her husband John Yanuzzi and Great Uncle to James and Andrew Dotter and Christopher, Mary and Sara Yanuzzi.

Willard was born on July 3, 1922 in Weisport, PA to Leon and Mary (Miller) Dotter. He attended Mercersburg Academy and went on to Medical School at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon his graduation, he went to the Robert Packer Hospital-Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, PA to do his internship. Willard served his country in the Navy from 1945-1948 and then returned to Robert Packer Hospital- Guthrie Clinic to complete his three year residency in orthopedics. After completion, he was hired as a member of the Orthopedic Department. In 1953, Willard accepted a position with the Great Falls Clinic in Great Falls, Montana. In 1958, he left the Great Falls Clinic to join the Lahey Clinic Orthopedic staff, until his retirement on July 3, 1987. He was an orthopedic surgeon for 30 years at Lahey Clinic Medical Center.

Willard was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Mary (Miller) Dotter, step-mother Ethel (Sewell) Dotter, and brother Herman Dotter.

A service will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, 207 Washington Street, Wellesley Hills. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St, Watertown MA 02472 or to the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church, discretionary fund.
