William Chalmers Middleton, a resident of Needham since 1961, passed away on Sept 26, 2023. He was 89.

Bill was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and came to the US with his wife and son in 1961. He was a painting contractor in Needham operating his own company, Middleton Painting, for many years.

He was a devoted family man who was warm, kind and a giving person to all. Bill was married to the love of his life Norma (Willox) Middleton for 58 years before her passing in 2014 and he is survived by his son Gary and his wife Anne of Norfolk, MA. Cherished grandfather of Melissa Ham and her husband Nicholas of West Bridgewater, MA, Mark of Easton, MA and Cameron of Reston, VA. his two great grandchildren Austin and Madison, and his sister Edna Mann (Scotland). He was predeceased by his brothers David, Alfie, and Mick Middleton.

Bill had a lifelong passion for soccer. He played at a highly competitive  level in Scotland prior to emigrating to the US. He was a founding member of BAYS (Boston Area Youth Soccer) as well as a coach, in the Needham  soccer program and for many years where he proudly coached the Needham Thistles. He also assisted with coaching in Needham Little League. He was a longtime member of the Mason’s and loved music and to sing.

A visiting hour will be held on Tues Oct 10 from 10-11 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11 AM in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Archie Foundation, an organization that helps children in Scotland, in Bill’s name would be appreciated.
