Willliam Slaby Obituary

William L. Slaby, formerly of New Seabury, Plymouth and Somerset died on Dec 2, 2011 at Epoch of Chestnut Hill. He was 80.
Born in Berwyn IL, Bill was raised in Buffalo NY and graduated from Bennett High School. He worked as a salesman and was later Sales Manager for GE Medical Systems , retiring after 38 years. Bill was a semi-pro football quarterback and had served in the Army National Guard for 10 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Augusta ME, performed in a professional vocal quartet, and loved singing with many groups and church choirs.
Bill was the beloved husband for 59 years of Joan (Ellsworth) Slaby, and is survived by his children and their families William D. Slaby and Susie Toomey of Middletown RI, John Slaby and Karen of Foxboro, Ellen Slaby and Bruce Richardson of Chestnut Hill, James Slaby and Heather Howland Slaby of Boston, Susan Bryce and William of Great Barrington and Joseph Slaby of Seattle WA, grandchildren John Eric, John Paul and Michael Slaby, Amelia and Kyle Ellis and Jeremiah Washington, and his sisters Grace Cooke of Oxford NY and Marianne Asarese of Tonawanda NY.
A funeral service will be held on Tues Dec 6 at 10 AM in the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Mon 4-8 PM. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery West Roxbury.
