Dr. Zenos McPherson Linnell, 86, died in Boston, MA on September 27, 2011. "Zee" was born August 7, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Julia Zenos Linnell and Dr. Bird McPherson Linnell. A 1943 graduate of The Francis Parker School and Harvard College, class of 1948, Zee served as an Ensign in the Pacific during World War II. He received his medical degree from Boston University in 1953. Continuing his studies at the New York Psychoanalytic Institute, he became a staff member at Mclean Hospital in Belmont, MA. After a long career as a practicing psychiatrist, he also wrote and was still at work on new clinical and theoretical aspects of developmental methods for psychoanalysis when he died. Zee had an encyclopedic knowledge and love of classical music; old movies, and boating and sailing during summers in Maine. A practitioner of golf, often frustrated by the game, he remained determined to master it as best he could. He is survived by sons Andrew Z. Linnell, John S. Linnell and daughters Julia M. Linnell and Margaret L. Macy as well as four grandchildren; Henry Linnell, Kathleen Macy, Sarah and John Macy and loving companion Virginia C. Wood. Auburn Cemetery, Story Chapel, 580 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge, MA. Burial is private.
